Verizon recently launched new commercials basically showing that customers don’t need or want unlimited data, and both Sprint and T-Mobile have taken offense to that. Sprint has now announced a new unlimited data plan – with unlimited talk and text included – for $50/month. That’s actually $10 less than their unlimited plan, Sprint Freedom, was when it launched late last year. This effectively makes it the cheapest unlimited data plan available in the US.
If you need more than one line, Sprint has you covered there as well. You can add a second line for $40, bringing the total for two lines to just $90/month. Additional lines will cost you $30/month. Sprint’s unlimited data is unlimited, but be aware that they do slow down the speed on video, music streaming and game streaming. It’s still usable, but this is to eliminate unneeded bandwidth, and allow other customers to use it. T-Mobile does something similar with video actually. Sprint also touts that at $50/month, that is still cheaper than Verizon’s 5GB plan which is priced at $55/month. Not to mention the overages you could incur over on big red.
Sprint and T-Mobile have been dropping their prices quite a bit in the past few years, and have been forcing the bigger two – AT&T and Verizon – to either compete or lose customers. The two larger carriers have been competing, but not as tough as Sprint and T-Mobile. Which is what has led both carriers to grow pretty incredibly lately. Verizon has no intentions of bringing back unlimited data, even though their customers have been asking for it, and judging by the number of people signing up for unlimited plans on their competitors networks, it’s clear that customers do in fact want unlimited data.
You can take advantage of this new plan from Sprint starting today. It’s unclear how long this price will last, or if it is a permanent decrease from the $60/month plan that they have been offering for a few months now.
