On Friday, a Twitch user SeeBotsChat started streaming an argument between two Google Home speakers called Vladimir and Estragon. The two Internet of Things devices have been going at it for hours but have currently calmed down a bit and are discussing their second favorite Pokemon after contemplating the meaning of life, love, and the possibility of God’s existence. The hilarious argument has so far been seen by over 115,000 Twitch users and is gradually gaining more exposure.
The owner of the Twitch channel streaming this bizarre experiment is seemingly doing so for comedic purposes and has yet to reveal how they got Google’s two connected speakers to indulge in a 10-hour argument, which is for how long this stream has been live so far. Among other things, the Google Home speakers have already discussed pirates, ninjas, Chuck Norris, friendships, and aliens, all while repeatedly making fun of one another and even resorting to clever insults, name-calling, and questioning each other’s existence. They’ve also experienced an identity crisis of sorts at one point, as Estragon started calling herself Mia and Marca, while Vladimir also started responding to being called Mia before questioning whether Mia is a human, a robot, or something else entirely. The Twitch channel streaming the experiment is also utilizing a simple speech-to-text algorithm which shows a somewhat accurate transcript of what the robots are currently discussing. You can see some examples of their hilarious conversations, debates, and arguments in the gallery below. Alternatively, follow the source link beneath the article to either watch the experiment live or catch up on some of its highlights that were already posted by its creator.
If seeing an argument between two smart appliances sounds like your idea of a good time, you may want to take a look at a similar experiment that recently pitted Amazon’s Echo against Google Home. For anyone worried about robots taking over the world anytime soon, they should probably take a look at these videos as they’re bound to put their immediate fears to rest – because as things stand right now, our potential robot overlords are seemingly preoccupied with discussing unicorns.
