Waze will now let users browse places by category as part of the latest update to the navigation app. Waze, which is typically used for directions and navigation as that is it’s core functionality, does offer a way to do a few more things, and searching for places like you would in Google Maps is one of them. Of course, if you’re not sure of what the name is for a certain place but you may know the type of business or place it is, as well as its general location, the option to now browse by category should help out in locating whatever it is you’re looking for.
There are more than a few categories that a user can set as browsing or searching options, and some of those include shopping, restaurants, and hotels, which are likely all obvious choices. In addition to browsing for places by category, Waze also now has an update to the search by voice feature that was added prior to today’s update to the application. If you happen to be using Waze in another country, you can now search by voice using the language of that country if it makes things more simple, and it even works if your Waze app is still set to your native language.
Of course there are always improvements and bug fixes that get added in to just about any app update from any developer, and it’s no different here with Waze as Google has made improvements to the app in this particular manner. How much smoother things are is unclear as Google doesn’t mention which bugs they fixed or what necessarily that they improved, but nevertheless bug fixes and improvements are there and that’s a good thing, especially if you’ve been experiencing any issues as of late. One last feature that Google has added in is the ability to see the distance to the location you’re searching for as you’re typing it in the search box. This works as part of a new autocomplete distance feature that was added into Waze, and it boasts working for any location as you type it in regardless of where it is. The update should be live on the Play Store for all users.
