AT&T’s LG G5 is starting to get the update to Android Nougat today it seems as users are reporting the latest version of Android software as showing up on their devices. With that in mind, it seems like AT&T is on a roll with sending the update to Nougat out to some of their devices as they started updating the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge to Android Nougat on Friday, and more users on those two devices are continuing to receive the update today as well.
If you haven’t seen the update just yet then you can always check to see if it’s available for download manually, and just like with any other device you can check to see if the update is available for you by going into the settings menu, then about phone, and tapping on the software updates option. If you don’t want to check manually, your other option is simply to wait for the notification to show up in your status bar and then download it once it shows up on its own time. That being said, the update may show up before the end of the day and it may take a few days before everyone with an LG G5 on AT&T has the update.
The software download file is around 1.5GB so expect it to take a few minutes to finish the download, and since AT&T requires you to be connected to Wi-Fi networks for software updates subscribers won’t have to worry about issues with hitting their 4G LTE data limits. Since this is Android 7.0 Nougat there are a handful of things for LG G5 owners to look forward to including improvements to the LG UI and software. More notably though, the update to Android 7.0 Nougat will include specific features like improved Doze Mode, App Shortcuts, Multi-Window and more. The update will also include the adjustments that were made to the Quick Settings menu that can be accessed by dragging down the notification shade and it also includes the January 1st security patch so the security software is mostly up to date, though still a little behind as some devices are already on the February security patch.
