Download: Review Sharing Comes to Google Maps v9.46

There’s a new version of Google Maps available now, it’s version 9.46 and brings quite a few new features including the ability to share reviews. Now this feature is only available for local guides that are level 2 or higher. The feature is exactly what it sounds like, which is it allows users to share that particular review with anyone. There’s a new share icon below every single review on everything on Google Maps, and now you can share links to a specific review with anyone. This isn’t limited to just your reviews too. So if you find a review about a restaurant you’re thinking about going to, you can share that review with others that are going too.

In the teardown of the update to Google Maps, it appears that Google has added the ability for places to show whether they have on-site parking available. This comes just a few weeks after Google debuted the parking difficulty feature in Maps, which showed you how difficult it might be to find a parking space at a specific place. It appears that this feature isn’t fully functioning just yet, but the code is available in the app for the feature, so it may be added or at least turned on in the next few days or weeks. It could even be turned on via a server-side switch.

There are also some changes to notifications, and controlling which notifications hit your device from Google Maps. Which is a great feature to have, so you can limit which notifications you get, because you may not want them all. You can get notifications for traffic, your contributions, people and places, ride services, and new on maps. All of these are sections that have additional functionality that can be toggled on or off. This update for Google Maps is available now, and is being rolled out in a staged rollout, so it may take a little while before it hits your device. You can however sideload the APK onto your smartphone and get the updated version of the Google Maps app right away, from the link down below.
