Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based Moto Z has just surfaced on GFXBench, which suggests that the update could start rolling out to the device in the near future. Now, the Moto Z already received Android 7.0 Nougat, the company started rolling out that update back in November in some regions, and the update started hitting US units earlier this week. That being said, Android 7.1.1 Nougat is coming it seems.
If you take a look at the GFXBench listing, you’ll not only see Android 7.1.1 Nougat update listed on it, but all the Moto Z specifications as well, despite the fact GFXBench does not confirm this is the Moto Z handset we’re looking at here. The Moto Z is one of two flagship smartphones Motorola / Lenovo released last year, and is one of the best smartphones currently available out there. The Moto Z comes with a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable native storage. As you can see, the phone’s 64GB storage variant is listed on GFXBench. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. A 13-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of the Moto Z, and a 5-megapixel camera can be found on its front side. This phone also comes with a 2,600mAh non-removable battery, which offers support for fast charging.
For those of you who don’t know, Moto Z originally shipped with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and it was one of the first non-Pixel and non-Nexus devices to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. It seems like the company is aiming to be amongst the first to do the same with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, at least it seems like it. We still don’t know when will Motorola / Lenovo decide to push out this update to the Moto Z, but chances are that will happen in the coming weeks. Considering the fact that the Moto Z is getting this update, its siblings, the Moto Z Force and Moto Z Play, will probably get it soon after as well.
