Google has highlighted ways to work smarter with G Suite in a new series that they’re calling Work Hacks From G Suite. Today is the start of this new series which Google states that they’ll be doing on a monthly basis, so while there will be just a handful of useful tips to start with for those that use G Suite in their day to day work life, over time Google will have built up a nifty little resource full of lifehack tips on how to make the most of G Suite’s different apps and tools so that work flow and productivity can remain fluid and consistent.
As working smarter and not harder tends to focus on efficiency, Google’s tips include simple yet effective ways to speed things up with G Suite apps. One of the key highlights is that people can use Google Forms to gather information that they may need on a given topic, so by simply creating a survey with Google Forms you can then send out that survey to all the employees who you need data collected from, which they can also attach files to so if you need more than just the data, you can kill two birds with one stone here.
In addition to collecting data Google also notes that you can use Sheets to check on status and requests for tasks that need to be completed. The ball is already rolling by creating a Google Form and having people fill it out as this process also creates a spreadsheet automatically which contains all of the data that is collected from those who took the survey. By using Forms, you can subtract an entire step out of the work flow and not worry about creating a spreadsheet. In addition to these few steps the work flow can be further automated by using Apps Script to both send reminders to colleagues and update the various G Suite tools, which saves you from yet another thing you have to do, and by saving you from having to complete certain tasks, you save time, which at the end of the day is what Google is trying to help businesses accomplish.
