LG took the wraps off of their latest flagship, the G6 at Mobile World Congress today in Barcelona, and there really wasn’t a whole lot of surprises there. Seeing as the device had been leaking out all over the place, but that doesn’t mean that the LG G6 isn’t an exciting phone. It most certainly is. The LG G6 ditched the design of the LG G5, going for a more safe approach here. LG has decided to go with a metal frame along with a glass back, similar to a lot of other premium flagships out there, but it still definitely looks like an LG device, which is important.
As you can see, LG kept the dual camera setup on the back of the device, although it’s not a dual camera like you’d expect. Basically one is a wide-angle lens (around 125-degrees) and the other is a standard camera. LG actually worked with Qualcomm to make the switching between these two cameras nice and fast. A big change, however, from the LG G5 to the LG G6 in terms of the camera is the camera bump. The back of the phone is now completely flat, there isn’t even a bump for the power button/fingerprint sensor on the backside. It makes it look a bit nicer, but it is a bit tougher to find that power button without actually looking at the device. This is something we’ll likely get used to in a few days of usage though.
LG did decide to get rid of the removable battery this time around with the G6, but that may not be a big deal really. Seeing as LG did up the capacity to 3300mAh, and there is also Quick Charge 3.0 included. Allowing you to quickly charge your device up to 50% in only 35 minutes. Which is really pretty impressive, and great for topping off your smartphone before heading out for the evening. Perhaps the most interesting part of the LG G6 is the size. It’s sporting a 5.7-inch display, but it is the exact same size as the LG G5 from last year that had a 5.3-inch display. This is because LG cleaned up the bezels a bit, and they say that the screen-to-body ratio is over 80%. It’s not quite as high as the Xiaomi Mi MIX, but still pretty good. It’s a great looking smartphone that we can’t wait to spend more time with, and can’t wait for it to become available.
