It seems Honor has now made the global rolling out of Android 7.0 (Nougat) for the Honor 8 official. This news comes after it was reported that Honor will be rolling out the update to its Honor 8 devices on February 10th, and true enough, users are now said to be receiving the jump to the latest version of Android, starting from today.
As this a pretty huge update, Honor 8 users can expect a lot of new features which come along with the update. According to the new Honor image below promoting the update, new features includes, “the convenience of an app drawer”. This is a pretty big feature for the device as Honor’s custom UI didn’t come with an app drawer initially. However, this is an optional feature which can be turned on or off by the user. Also, the settings list has been rearranged and security of the device has been improved. The notifications and status are customizable now and the design of Android Nougat for the Honor 8 was inspired by the landscape of the Aegean Sea. Other Android Nougat features which users will be receiving, include multi-window view and Doze on the Go.
The Android Nougat update for the Honor 8 is being pushed out over-the-air and devices will receive a notification prompting the download and installation of the update once it’s available. However, for that to happen, devices will need to have at least 50-percent of battery life remaining, or be connected to a wall socket. For owners who have yet to receive a notification regarding the update, open the Settings menu, select About Phone, and tap on Software Updates, which will allow for manual checking of whether the update is ready to download. While this is a global rollout, some users had already received the jump to Android Nougat earlier than others, back in January. It is also worth keeping in mind that this is a gradual rollout and so it will take some time for the update to arrive on all devices. According to the information coming through, the expected full completion date is the end of the month.
