The Honor 8 will see its Android Nougat update on February 10th, and the update will include Huawei’s EMUI 5.0 software along with the Android 7.0 Nougat software. This is an update which is presumably headed out to all Honor 8 owners, though no specific areas were mentioned in regards to which regions will see it first, so owners of the Honor 8 will simply want to keep an eye out for the update starting tomorrow when the software is expected to begin hitting devices. While the update will be landing on a number of Honor 8 devices from tomorrow, the update will also continue to roll out to devices throughout the month of February.
Tomorrow’s update seems to be more about a global release of the latest software with all of the new tweaks, but Honor also began rolling out the Android Nougat update with EMUI 5.0 to Honor 8 device owners in Japan as of the middle of January, so it appears now that Honor is just getting around to sending out the new software to the rest of the devices which have yet to receive it.
A February launch for the Android 7.0 Nougat software shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise, as it was rumored to be coming in February as of back in December, though it is worth noting that at the time there was no mention of a specific date, just the month that the software update would start to roll out to device owners. Since this is coming with EMUI 5.0, there will be all of the goodies that can be seen on that version of software in other devices which already have it, like the Mate 9, but it also comes with what you’ll find in Android 7.0 on other devices, such as the improved Doze Mode, split-screen multi-tasking thanks to the Multi-Window feature, and App Shortcuts which will allow even quicker access to specific actions in your most-used applications. All in all it should be a pretty nice boost for Honor 8 owners, although it should also be expected that the update will be fairly large, so it’s a good idea to not only make sure that your device has at least a 50% charge on the battery before initiating the download, but also making sure that you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network so as not to eat up any of your data limit.
