Huawei plans to update quite a few devices to Android Nougat, if a newly leaked roadmap is to be believed. As most of you probably already know, this is not the first Huawei Android Nougat roadmap that leaked, but this one does add a number of more devices to the list. According to the provided info, the Huawei Honor 5C, Honor 6X, Huawei Nova and Huawei P9 will get Android Nougat soon, but the source does not share any additional info regarding it, so we don’t really know when will the update start rolling out to those devices, well, except the Honor 5C, read on.
Now, in addition to the leaked roadmap, Mr. Ivanik confirmed that the company is testing Android Nougat for the Honor 5C in Ukraine. Mr. Ivanik is the local Huawei coordinator, and he confirmed that this is a limited beta test for the Honor 5C, while he also added that the company is making last tests before they actually release the update. This test started on February 13th, and according to Mr. Ivanik, it will be concluded on February 24th. He also added that it will take the company about two weeks to address any software issues that end up being found during testing, which means that users in Ukraine can expect the update to start rolling out next month, in March. These are good news for Honor 5C owners all over the place, as the update will probably start rolling out to unlocked units in a number of markets next month as well.
Android 7.0 Nougat started rolling out to the Honor 8 quite recently, and the update actually brings a ton of new features for the Honor 8 owners. You can expect a similar update to hit the Honor 5C as well, and as part of it, the company addressed some issues that were found in Android Marshmallow-based Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 skin, while it also adds some Nougat features, like Quick Reply, threaded notifications in the notification shade, different multitasking UI, new lockscreen features, and so on. Honor actually decided to make the company’s Emotion UI skin more similar to stock Android by adding such features, and do keep in mind that a regular app drawer had also been added along with this update.
