Jide’s new Remix Singularity OS is a plug and play experience as it lets you connect your smartphone up to your computer by docking it or by plugging it in through a cable, thus turning your PC into a Remix OS-powered machine. Remix OS is already available on PC via a downloadable image that can be installed, and through a USB Flash drive version that can be plugged into the USB port for installation that way. Now though there’s no need to actually install the OS on your desktop or laptop at all as you can simply dock your phone and get the same experience and all of the benefits of Remix OS.
Singularity launches later on this Summer so it’s not quite available yet and Jide doesn’t given an exact time frame so it could launch anytime between June and the end of August, but once it goes live it can be used with either desktops or laptops, and there is even a TV mode that lets you access a collection of various applications that Jide says are optimized for the big screen to make viewing and use more enjoyable and natural. While Jide doesn’t actually mention any of the apps that you can use in TV mode, there are some obvious ones like Netflix, likely Hulu, and probably other streaming video applications that will enable you to watch movies and TV shows.
Beyond the desktop, laptop, and TV modes, since Remix Singularity is a mobile-based you can use it on your smartphone while out and about and stay connected with all of your apps and files, and this makes it easy to move between the home and the office so you can dock your device anywhere and use Singularity as you see fit. In the marketing graphic there appears to be an actual phone dock that you can set your phone on but it isn’t clear whether or not this is something that Jide will actually sell or if it’s just there for the graphic, so connecting your device may simply be just through the use of the USB cable that your phone is compatible with. Jide also doesn’t mention specific device compatibility, so there’s no way to know how wide the range is on devices. More details should be available on Remix Singularity as it gets closer to a release though. Remix Singularity is the latest addition to Jide’s offerings and follows Remix OS Player, it’s other most recent piece of software that is geared towards gaming.
