A new image of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 has now made its way online. While a number of leaked images and videos have come through of the Galaxy S8 in the past few days and weeks, the difference with this one is that it seems to be an official render of the Galaxy S8. This was provided by known tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) and seems likely to be a legitimate depiction of what the device will look like.
In fact, adding weight to the authenticity of the image is that the front of the display clearly does list the date as March 29 – which is now known to be the confirmed launch date for the Galaxy S8. To add more flavor, the time listed is 12:23, which (probably not coincidentally) adds up to 8. In terms of the actual image, this latest render does seem to fall in line with previous leaked images that have come through, confirming much of what has been expected including the removal of the home button in favor of a fuller display. Likewise, the lock screen seems to show off camera and call shortcuts, while hardware elements that can be seen include the iris scanner at the top of the phone, as well as the volume buttons, the power button, and what seems to be an additional button – the purpose of which is unknown at the moment .
As for the specs, well, these were also leaked recently by way of some marketing materials that made their way online. If correct, then it seems the Galaxy S8 will come equipped with a 5.8-inch display, which measures 5.6-inches when the rounded corners are taken into consideration. The display will be a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. Inside, the Galaxy S8 looks set to come loaded with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. In terms of cameras, it is expected that the rear camera will be a 12-megapixel ‘Dual Pixel’ camera, and this will be accompanied by an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Additional notable features includ an IP68 certification against water and dust, advanced security features through Samsung Knox and an iris scanner, expandable storage via microSD, wireless charging, Samsung Pay support, and more.
