ARCHOS, a French electronics company, had released the ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie smartphone way back in August last year. We did not get a chance to take a closer look at this handset back then, but we did not, as ARCHOS is, as many other tech companies, currently showing off their products in Barcelona at MWC 2017. All in all, we’ve managed to get some hands-on time with this smartphone, and if you’d like to take a closer look at it, check out the gallery down below where you’ll find a number of hands-on images.
The ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie is a budget smartphone which is made out of metal and glass. It looks quite premium, and yet it’s fueled by the Snapdragon 430 64-bit octa-core SoC by Qualcomm, which is the company’s entry-level chip. In addition to that SoC, this handset also packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. This phone has a word ‘Selfie’ in its name, and you’ll find an 8-megapixel shooter on its front side, which might not be what some of you expect considering its name. In any case, a 16-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of the ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie, and a 3,000mAh battery is packed inside of this handset, while quick charging is also included here. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on this smartphone, and you do get two SIM card slots here, just in case you’d like to use two SIM cards at the same time.
The ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie also packs in a fingerprint scanner, which is placed on its back, and above it, you’ll notice an LED flash. This phone ships with on-screen buttons, and its frame is made out of metal. That is more or less it, this might not be the most powerful smartphone you’ve seen at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, or even a high profile one, but it might appeal to some of you who are looking for a budget phone that is made out of metal and glass. The ARCHOS 55 Diamond Selfie costs around €220 in Europe, for those of you who are interested in picking one up.
