A newly leaked video obtained by British online retailer Mobile Fun showcases the upcoming Galaxy S8 in action, the company claims. The footage is rather short and doesn’t show much, but the star of the video certainly looks similar to some other alleged prototypes of the Galaxy S8 that surfaced online in recent weeks. The source apparently got their hands on the golden variant of the Galaxy S8, the same on that was leaked just yesterday. The short video depicting what’s said to be Samsung’s upcoming Android flagship can be seen below.
Provided the footage is legitimate, it suggests several things. For starters, the upcoming Galaxy S8 apparently won’t ship with any kind of Samsung branding on the front, possibly because its top bezel is already filled with sensors and has no room for a logo, while the bottom one is about as thin as the Samsung logo featured on the front of some variants of the Galaxy S7 Edge. In other words, there’s simply not enough space for a sufficiently sized Samsung logo on the front of the device. Furthermore, the prototype shown in the video features no home button or capacitive buttons on the bottom of the device, also because there doesn’t seem to be any room for them. Instead, the device clearly makes use of on-screen buttons located in a tray on the bottom of the screen that’s just a bit larger than the bottom bezel of the handset.
While there’s seemingly no way to confirm the legitimacy of this video, the showcased smartphone does look extremely similar to numerous previous leaks depicting alleged prototypes of the Galaxy S8. Regardless, more information about Samsung’s upcoming device is bound to follow soon seeing how the South Korean tech giant recently confirmed that it will be unveiling its next-generation Galaxy S smartphone on March 29 at a special event in New York City. Both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus are currently rumored to hit the market in the second half of April and the company will presumably unveil their firm release date in late March. Apart from its flagship duo, Samsung is also launching the Galaxy Tab S3 and the new Gear VR headset this spring.
