The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 has just surfaced on Geekbench and it’s running Android 7.0 Nougat. Samsung had introduced two Galaxy Tab S2 variants back in July 2015, an 8-inch and 9.7-inch models, while the company re-released upgraded models in April last year. This listing suggests that we’re looking at an 8-inch variant of the Galaxy Tab S2 which was released last year, as it’s model number is SM-T719. Now, a 9.7-inch variant of the Galaxy Tab S2 was spotted on GFXBench back in December, and it also ran Android 7.0 Nougat. It seems like both variants of the Galaxy Tab S2 will get the update in the near future, though we still don’t know when exactly will that happen.

This Nougat-running Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 managed to score 1,449 points a single-core, and 3.272 points in a multi-core benchmark. Now, these results and the listing, in general, are really not revealing all that much, aside from the fact that Nougat is on the way to the Galaxy Tab S2 tablets. Now, the Galaxy Tab S3 is expected to land during this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona which is set to kick off soon, and it is possible that Samsung plans to release more Android Nougat information during their press conference. Samsung will not announce the Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy S8 Plus during the Mobile World Congress, which gives them plenty of room to talk about other stuff, like updates for their existing devices. The company will, however, share some Galaxy S8 teasers, and their all-new flagship smartphone is expected to arrive either in late March, or early April.

The Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (2016) sports an 8-inch 2048 x 1536 Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 652 64-bit octa-core processor, well, the 2016 variant we’re talking about today is, at the very least. An 8-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this smartphone, and a 2.1-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of this tablet. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 (2016), and on top of it, you get Samsung’s custom UI, of course.
