The original Samsung Galaxy A5 will get the Android Nougat update soon, at least according to an Australian carrier, Optus. This very same carrier reported last month that the update is on its way to the original Galaxy A5, which was released back in 2014, and that it will be released at the end of January. Well, that did not happen, and people started to wonder what happened, well, Optus has just released some more info regarding the update, read on.
Optus has just released some updated info when it comes to this update, and it seems like Android 7.0 Nougat will hit the original Galaxy A5 sometime this month, though the source does not mention when exactly can we expect this update to hit. Considering the fact that the update is coming to Optus, we can expect it to hit Galaxy A5 devices all around the globe. The original Galaxy A5 was announced back in October 2014, which means that it landed over two years ago, and yet, it will get Android 7.0 Nougat, which are great news for those of you who own this smartphone. The original Galaxy A5 shipped with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but it got updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow eventually. Do keep in mind that Samsung installs their very own custom skin on top of Android, of course.
This smartphone did not have top of the line specs when it landed at the end of 2014, so you can imagine how its specs look like now, it would be considered an entry-level smartphone if it were announced recently. Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to bring new life to this smartphone, however, it will be interested to see how will it function on the original Galaxy A5. This smartphone sport a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor, and a 2,300mAh battery is included on the inside. This smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, while a 5-megapixel shooter is placed on the phone’s front side. Android 7.0 Nougat will land on this smartphone soon, so stay tuned for more info, we’ll report back soon, as per usual.
