This Valentine’s Day, Niantic has something big planned for Pokemon GO and it comes in the form of an in-game event which will last for roughly a week. This limited time celebration will begin today at 11AM PST and will end at 11AM on February 15th, 2017, which is a day after Valentine’s Day. As part of the Valentine’s Day event, Pokemon GO trainers will have the chance to encounter any pink colored Pokemon more frequently in the wild. This includes Chansey, Clefable and many others. On top of that, your chances of hatching pink colored Pokemon from eggs will increase during the same period. This means Pokemon such as Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum will have a higher chance to hatch from eggs.
However, that is not all, as Niantic will also be doubling the amount of candy Pokemon trainers will be able to gain each time they catch, hatch or transfer Pokemon. Buddy Pokemon will also be able to find candy at twice the normal speed. If you think Lure Modules simply don’t last long enough, you will be glad to know that they will now last for six hours throughout the Valentine’s Day event. Lure Modules are used in the game to attract Pokemon to a particular PokeStop for 30 minutes. So if you would like a change from the typical Valentine’s Day date, head out to the park with your significant other and catch some Pokemon’s.
This Valentine’s Day Pokemon GO event is the first in-game event of 2017, with the last one being a Christmas event. When Pokemon GO was initially launched, it took the world by storm, with millions of Pokemon fans flooding public places such as parks to catch Pokemon’s. However, the hype surrounding the game died down within months of its initial release and Niantic has been hosting in-game events to attract players back to the game. While the hype has definitely simmered down, Pokemon GO is still the most successful game in the mobile gaming industry, having made $1 billion in revenue within 7 months after its initial release in the Summer of 2016. The game currently generates around $2 million in revenue on a daily basis.
