The Honor 8 Pro is rumored to be announced at Mobile World Congress at the end of this month as a new and more powerful version of the already available Honor 8 that consumers can pick up. Honor, which is Huawei’s sub-brand, is not necessarily well-known out side of China but they have made an effort to expand their presence internationally with devices like the Honor 8 that is officially available in the U.S. Honor is also typically associated with more entry-level and mid-tier smartphones, but the Honor 8 Pro will be a more high-end device from the company as it will reportedly come with better hardware specifications and features compared to the Honor 8.
The Honor 8 Pro is said to be an international version of the Honor V9 which popped up on China’s regulatory website TENAA earlier this month and was at the time said to be getting an announcement at Mobile World Congress as well. If both devices are one in the same then both being unveiled at Mobile World Congress makes more sense as they’re essentially the same phone targeted for different markets. The Honor 8 Pro (Honor V9) is rumored to come with a dual camera setup comprised of two 12-megapixel sensors on the back with an 8-megapixel camera up front for selfies and video chat.
The phone is also said to be packing a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and Android 7.0 Nougat software so it will be mostly up to date on the software side of things, which shouldn’t be a huge surprise as the phone is set for launch sometime in the near future following the event and Nougat was officially launched last Fall. Other hardware specs are rumored to include up to 6GB of RAM which suggests that there may be other variants of the device that come with less RAM, an option that if available, would mean different price options for consumers so they could pick the best version of the Honor 8 Pro that fits their needs. The Honor 8 Pro is also said to have up to 128GB of internal storage space and allow for expandable storage via a microSD card, as well as a 3900mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device and potentially making mobile payments. From the image the Honor 8 Pro will be offered in at least a Gold color, but there is no indication of other colors at the moment or what they might be.
