Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 is official after more than a month of leaks and rumors about the device and when Samsung would actually announce it, and while the Galaxy Tab S3 is in many ways a very familiar tablet device as it is still a Samsung product and it isn’t the first of its kind in the series, there are some new special features which Samsung has introduced with this tablet which make it stand out from past models, and one of these is the new Samsung Flow feature which essentially lets people reply to incoming messages that arrive on a smartphone from the Galaxy Tab S3.
With Samsung Flow, users can link their smartphone and reply from the tablet when messages arrive on the phone. Samsung says that Flow is compatible with multiple apps, and this includes SMS (although they didn’t mention if it was only compatible with the stock messaging app or not), WhatsApp, and Facebook’s Messenger application. Samsung says that other messaging apps are supported too, but they didn’t detail specifically which messaging apps these were.
In addition to the messaging replies, notifications for incoming voice calls can also appear on the Galaxy Tab S3 through Samsung Flow but answering the calls is not possible. Nevertheless, seeing the notification on the tablet will make it so that users are less likely to miss a call if they don’t have their phone nearby. Flow also allows access to apps that are installed on the linked smartphone and it automatically tethers with a connected device so there shouldn’t be any worry about whether or not the feature is working. While Flow is one of the more unique features of the Galaxy Tab S3, this tablet also comes with an S Pen, though there are some differences between it and the ones found on past Galaxy devices like those in the Note series. For starters, it’s not integrated into the chassis of the phone, and it has some enhanced features such as a 0.7mm rubber tip and 4,096 pressure levels. Samsung has also made the pen a bit larger so it feels more comfortable and more solid in the hand during use which means that people should be able to use the S Pen for extended periods without any discomfort. In addition to these two benefits of the device, the Galaxy Tab S3 also offers a great entertainment experience thanks to the HDR AMOLED display and AKG-tuned Quad speakers. The tablet also supports the Vulkan API which means better graphics for games. Samsung hasn’t shared a price or an exact release date for the Galaxy Tab S3 just yet.
