Specs: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

The Galaxy Tab S3 is finally official, as Samsung just announced it during the company’s MWC 2017 press conference. This is the company’s all-new flagship tablet, and a direct successor to the Galaxy Tab S2 which was announced back in 2015, and then re-announced with bumped up specs last year. The Galaxy Tab S3 is actually quite a capable tablet, and it comes with some really nice features, not to mention that the S Pen stylus is also included in this package. That being said, you can find this tablet’s main announcement article on the site already, and we’re here to take a closer look at its specifications, read on.

The Galaxy Tab S3 comes with a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 Super AMOLED display, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor fuels this tablet, along with the Adreno 530 GPU. This is Qualcomm’s flagship SoC for 2016, next to the Snapdragon 821, of course, so it’s not exactly the latest and greatest the company has to offer, but it’s more than enough to offer powerful processing on the Galaxy Tab S3. The Galaxy Tab S3 comes with a physical home key which is placed below its display, and that button doubles as a fingerprint scanner. There are two capacitive buttons included here which are flanking the tablet’s home key, and the device also comes with quad-speakers which are tuned by AKG. The Galaxy Tab S3 offers Vulkan API support, which should enhance the performance of this device even further. A 13-megapixel camera is placed on the back of the Galaxy Tab S3, while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper on the tablet’s front side. A 6000mAh battery is also included in this package, and so is fast charging.

As already mentioned, this tablet comes with the S Pen stylus, though the stylus is not embedded in the tablet’s chassis. There are 4,096 pressure levels available here, and the S Pen stylus comes with a 0.7mm rubber tip. This stylus does not feature a battery on the inside, which is something we’re used to seeing when it comes to the company’s S Pen stylus accessories. All in all, you’re getting all of the S Pen features that were included in the Galaxy Note 7 which is no longer available. The company has included something called ‘Samsung Flow’ on this tablet as well, this feature makes it possible for you to receive push notifications on your phone, and are able to reply through via the Galaxy Tab S3. This will work on a number of different apps, including SMS, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, etc. Thanks to this feature you’ll also get phone call notifications from your smartphone, auto tethering, easy content sharing and access to phone apps.

Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Galaxy Tab S3, and on top of it, you’re getting Samsung’s custom UI, of course. The Galaxy Tab S3 does not offer wireless charging, despite the fact its back side is made out of glass. This tablet comes in Black and Silver color variants, and it’s worth mentioning that you can also purchase a keyboard for this tablet which Samsung also announced during their press conference. The Galaxy Tab S3 measures 237.3 x 169 x 6mm, while it weighs 429 grams (Wi-Fi variant) / 434 grams (LTE variant). Speaking of 4G LTE, it’s worth mentioning that the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S3 comes with Cat. 6 LTE.
