Samsung’s 2017 model of the Galaxy J7 has hit GFXBench recently and while this wouldn’t be the first leak of the device specifications, it does display that some of the specs match up with previous leaks which suggests that the specs are accurate, at least to a point. According to today’s benchmark results the Galaxy J7 2017 will come with a processor out of Samsung’s own lineup, as it’s noted to come powered by the Exynos 7870 processor, which is an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and built on ARMv8 Cortex A53 cores. This is paired with a Mali-T830 GPU for the graphics processing, as well as 2GB of RAM for the memory.
Samsung using an Exynos processor inside their phones is no surprise, but it would seem that it is possible for Samsung to be using an Exynos processor in some variants while choosing a processor from Qualcomm to use in others. The previous Geekbench 4 leak showed some of the same details as the GFXBench listing, like the device running on Android 7.0 Nougat, but in regards to the processor the phone was listed as having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which has an Adreno 506 GPU instead. If Samsung is indeed using different chipsets for different variants, then it’s likely that the model with a Qualcomm chip will be aimed at the U.S. market (which makes sense as a rumor pegs this device as landing on Verizon and AT&T) while the Exynos model could be meant for international markets around the globe.
As for the rest of the specs that are listed in the GFXBench results, it appears the Galaxy J7 2017 is coming with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, and it should have 16GB of internal storage space for files, apps, games, and media. The rear-facing camera is listed as an 8-megapixel sensor with Full HD video recording capabilities, autofocus, face detection, LED Flash, and touch focus features, while the front-facing camera is listed as a 5-megapixel sensor with Full HD video recording. There’s confirmation just yet on when Samsung plans to officially announce this new model of the Galaxy J7, let alone where they plan to launch the device first and at what cost, but they may end up sharing those details in the weeks ahead.
