On Sunday, Super Bowl 51 will take place in Houston, Texas. It’s the biggest game of the year, and there are countless ways to watch the big game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. On the Big Screen
There are a few ways to watch the game on the big screen. One way is to simply pick up an antenna and hook it up to your TV. Since it is airing on FOX, which is a free local channel. Another way is by using a variety of OTT platforms like DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV and PlayStation Vue. With DIRECTV NOW, FOX is available on every package level. Sling TV, you’ll need to sign up for the Sling Blue package which is $25/month. And finally with PlayStaton Vue, FOX is available on all of their packages, including “Access Slim” which is just $30/month. All three services do offer a free trial, so you could sign up for a free trial to watch the game and then cancel afterwards. Keep in mind that there will be loads of people watching the game at the same time, so there may be some issues with streaming.
Of course, those are the platforms you can use to watch the game, but there are also different streamers that you can use. Like Google Chromecast or the Chromecast Ultra if you have a 4K TV. This way you’ll be able to Cast the game from your favorite app on your phone. Keep in mind that while you can watch the game through the NFL Mobile app, you can’t Cast it. You can use a Roku streamer, Android TV or even the Amazon Fire TV Stick to stream the game as well.
In Virtual Reality
If you can’t make it to Houston for the game, this might be the next best thing. FOX Sports is making the game viewable in their VR app which is on the Google Play Store. Allowing you to feel like you are really there watching the game in the stadium. FOX will have 6 different view points to watch the game in VR, as well as providing loads of highlights in VR for viewers to watch. It does work with Cardboard, Daydream and Gear VR. Of course the Google Play application will only work with Cardboard and Daydream, as the Oculus Store will have the version available for Gear VR.
From your Computer
Another option to stream the Super Bowl this year is by visiting FOXSportsGo.com. Everyone will be able to watch the game for free there, as long as you are in the United States. Some, actually many, of the commercials may be cut out though, depending on the agreements the advertisers have with the NFL and FOX.
On Mobile
For Verizon users, you’ll be able to watch the game on NFL Mobile as Verizon has the exclusive rights to stream live NFL games on mobile devices. Those that aren’t on Verizon, you can also use DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue or the FOX Sports app. With the FOX Sports app, you will need to have a cable or satellite login. Which may or may not work with some of these cord cutting services already mentioned. Be aware that streaming on mobile is definitely going to chew up a good bit of battery life, and if you’re not on WiFi, you’ll want to make sure it’s in the lowest quality, otherwise you may go over your data cap and get charged overages.
