Xiaomi has announced that it will be launching two new smart home products on February 14, which is also Valentine’s Day. Through its Mi Home account on Weibo, the company stated that the two new products will represent the company’s 60th and 61st smart home products, along with teaser images of the upcoming devices. From the teaser images posted by Xiaomi, it seems like the company will be launching a smart guitar, a first for the company, and also a wristwatch for children, which will come with GPS functionality.
According to the teaser image for the smart guitar, the upcoming smart home product will be able to teach beginners to play the guitar within 10 minutes, which seems pretty impossible, though that is what the teaser states. How advanced the guitar will be compared to current smart guitars in the market, is not known yet, but we will find out soon enough, as the launch is set to take place tomorrow in China. The teaser image for the wristwatch for children hints that the device will be able to track the position of the wearer as it comes equipped with GPS. It is also expected to be “weatherproof”, likely to be resistant to water to a certain extent. Xiaomi has made a name for themselves, especially in China, where its Mi Home ecosystem is widely known and the company makes brisk sales of its smart home products. Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem consists of a variety of products, including rice cookers, TVs, air purifiers, and even a robot vacuum cleaner. On top of that, the company is also known for its smartphones, though sales of its smartphones have dropped in recent times, with manufacturers like OPPO and Vivo having overtook Xiaomi in terms of sales.
Alongside the two smart home products which Xiaomi is expected to launch tomorrow, the company is set to put its latest smartphone, the Redmi Note 4X, on sale tomorrow. It is pretty similar to the Redmi Note 4 which Xiaomi recently announced in India a couple of weeks back, but what sets the two devices apart is the fact that the Redmi Note 4X comes in new color variants, and the ‘Hatsune Miku’ special edition model had also been announced by Xiaomi.
