AT&T is beginning to send out an update to the LG G5 and the LG V10, and apparently it is the March 2017 security patch, which Google released earlier this month. Given the fact that these are now LG’s latest and greatest smartphones, it’s great to see that AT&T and LG have not forgotten about those that bought these smartphones. The update for the LG G5 is build NRD90U and weighs in at about 67MB, while the LG V10 is getting build MRA58K which is a bit smaller at 57MB (in case you couldn’t tell from the build numbers, the LG V10 is sticking to Marshmallow on this update).
These updates are going to be bringing in plenty of bug fixes and security enhancements for the two devices, by patching up the latest vulnerabilities. There’s not much else coming in this update for either device, it’s mostly just small fixes, especially since the actual size of the update is fairly small. But while these are small updates, they are still very necessary updates to install onto your smartphone. So when you do get the update, be sure to install it, instead of procrastinating to install it. As these do fix plenty of vulnerabilities, and you wouldn’t want to have your device compromised because you decided to ignore an update.
Those of you that are on AT&T and own the LG G5 or the LG V10, can grab the update for their device beginning today. Just head to Settings, and then tap on “About Phone” and “System Update” to check for the update. You should be able to pull it down, if not, you’ll be able to get the update in the coming days. Since this is a staged rollout, it will take a few days to roll out to everyone. Since the updates are fairly small, they should download just fine over 4G LTE without taking up too much of your data limit. Especially since AT&T is now offering up unlimited data once again. The update will take a few minutes to reboot your device and install, so be sure to be patient when installing the update, although it shouldn’t take that long.
