Connected Neato robot vacuums gain Google Assistant support as Neato has just officially announced that you can now use Google Assistant on Google Home to control the Neato robot vacuums with your voice, which is going to make cleaning your home a whole lot easier if you have a Google Home smart speaker. This means that, while controlling a Neato Botvac robot vacuum was already fairly simple using the companion app, it’s now even easier, and what could be easier than telling your vacuum when to actually vacuum your home?
Naturally, the hotword for kicking things off starts with the Ok Google command, and following that up with “tell Neato robot to start cleaning” will initiate the robot vacuum to turn on and move away from its home base to get started. Neato didn’t just make it possible to initiate a clean with your voice though, they also integrated other functions into the voice capabilities with Google Assistant, and it’s possible to use your voice to set up a cleaning cycle as well as check the battery levels of the vacuum, or if you’re simply curious to know where in the home the vacuum is you can use your voice to activate the FindMe functionality and locate the vacuum at a moment’s notice.
Neato states that Google Assistant will work with all of their connected robot vacuum models including the Botvac D3 Connected, the Botvac D5 Connected, and the Botvac Connected. Consumers with any of those models and a Google Home speaker will be able to start using their voice to control their robot vacuums from today as Neato states the support for Google Assistant is already live in the U.S., though they don’t mention when this support might reach other regions outside of the U.S. Additionally it’s also going to be possible to use the Amazon Alexa skill for controlling Neato robot vacuums with your voice as support for the skill will be hitting the U.S., the UK, and Germany in the near future. That being said, they don’t mention a specific date for this either so consumers with an Amazon Echo or another speaker with Alexa will need to wait just a little bit longer.
