We have recently reviewed the Gionee A1, the company’s all-new smartphone which was announced during MWC 2017 last month, and now yet another Gionee-branded smartphone surfaced in China. The Gionee M6S Plus just got certified by TENAA, which is China’s equivalent to the FCC. This smartphone is made out of metal, and its volume up, volume down and power / lock buttons are placed on the right, while the SIM card tray can be found on the left. The device sports a fingerprint scanner / home key below the display, while that button is flanked by the overview and back capacitive buttons. On the back of the phone, you’ll be able to find the company’s branding, rear-facing camera and a dual-LED, dual-tone flash, which means that the speaker is located at the very bottom of this device.
Now, the Gionee M6S Plus is actually quite a compelling smartphone when it comes to specs. This device sports a 6-inch fullHD(1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). The device is fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 2GHz, but we still don’t know what SoC is this, either one of MediaTek’s mid-range offerings, or perhaps one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600-series chips. Now, the Gionee M6S Plus packs in a 6,020mAh battery on the inside, which is a huge battery pack, and should be more than enough to get you through the day even with heavy use. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Gionee M6S Plus, and on top of it, you’ll get the company’s custom UI, of course. A 12-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this smartphone, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found on its front side.
The Gionee M6S Plus will become available in white and gold color variants, while the device measures 163 x 80.8 x 8.2mm, and weighs 212 grams. We still do not know when will Gionee introduce this smartphone, but considering it got certified in the country, chances are it will become official in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that.
