The Huawei Honor 6X was released in China back in October 2016 and originally came in Gray, Silver, and Gold, although there were to be more colors on the way. It looks like that day has arrived as the Honor 6X is now available in a light Blue and a Pink or possibly Rose Gold color. For now, the new colors are only available in China, but we expect Huawei to unveil them in other parts of the world, especially India. The all-metal Honor 6X is a midrange device with decent specs, good built quality, a dual camera setup, with a price tag of only $250 for the unlocked version. It measures 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs in at 162 grams running Android Marshmallow out of the box, but has since been upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat the first of March.
The Honor 6X sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 403 pixels-per-inch (PPI). The processor is a Huawei designed HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-cores with four cores clocked at 1.7GHz and four cores clocked at 2.1GHz. Huawei’s Mali-T830MP2 GPU is onboard to handle the graphics. The base Honor 6X packs 3GB of RAM and offers 32GB of expandable internal memory via a microSD card, but Huawei claims there will also be a 4GB/64GB option available shortly. The Honor 6X offers up an unusual dual camera setup for a $250 device. The primary camera is a 12MP, and it uses a 2MP secondary camera to deliver a “professional-grade bokeh effect.” It comes with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and a LED flash. The front-facing camera (FFC) is an 8MP lens for selfies and video chatting. The Honor 6X manages to squeeze in a large 3340mAh non-removable battery.
Huawei was even able to include DTS audio for some great sounds through your headset when plugged into the available 3.5MM earphone jack. It has all of the usual suspects – WiFi (but not dual-band), Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, and FM Radio, a microUSB v2.0 port for charging and data transfer, and a fingerprint sensor for unlocking your Honor 6X. There is no NFC chip, so mobile payments and Android Pay are not available, and it will only work on a GSM LTE network, so that limits you to AT&T and T-Mobile in the US.
