Honor Starts Informing Users Of US To Germany Data Migration

Honor has started informing users of their devices of a U.S. to Germany data migration, which may not sit well with some of the consumers who have purchased an Honor device and are currently using it. It also may not bother many users and there’s always the likelihood that many of them may not even read the email that Honor has been sending to its U.S.-based consumers. In the email Honor doesn’t explain any definitive reasons for the data migration as it merely serves to alert users to the changes that are coming.

The migration of user data is scheduled to happen on April 6th of this year which is not too long from now. While they have explained what the reasons for the migration are, they have alerted users to what data will be associated with the change and this includes personal information, membership benefits, coupons, transactions, records, and uploaded files, any any other information that is associated with their Huawei ID, as the Huawei ID is what’s being migrated from the U.S. to Germany. Honor states that consumers can leaves things as is and they will continue to be able to access their Huawei ID and any associated information, but if they don’t want the ID migrated that they will need to delete it before April 5th which is the day before the migration takes place.

In the email Honor mentions that when challenges arise that they “stay true to their passion and continually strive for new accomplishments.” What exactly Honor is saying with this statement is unclear, but what is clear is that if you’re an Honor consumer you will have a chance to delete your Huawei ID before the migration takes place if you’d prefer the data not to leave the U.S. That being said, Honor does mention that the migration is in an effort to better serve its consumers, though again they don’t explain necessarily how the migration will help them achieve this goal. For users that choose to delete their Huawei ID the process is pretty straightforward as all they’ll have to do is click on the link that was provided to them in the email sent out by Honor. Having said that, deleting the Huawei ID will result in never being able to retrieve any of the information associated with it after the deletion is complete, so make sure to initiate any backups if need be.
