Huawei’s latest flagships, the P10 and P10 Plus have both gone up for pre-order in the UK at Carphone Warehouse. The devices, were both announced nearly a month ago at MWC 2017 in Barcelona. The smaller of the pair, the Huawei P10, is now available for £569.99, which will get customers the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage model in either black or gold, both of which ship out March 31st. In addition to this, the larger P10 Plus is also available for £679.99 with both black and gold also being available for color options, though the Gold ships April 26th, while the Black model can be had by April 5th.
As well as the outright purchase price, Carphone Warehouse is also offering the devices with various data plans. For the smaller Huawei P10, plans include those from EE, Vodafone, and O2, with the cheapest starting at £40.99 a month. For the bigger model, the same network providers are available, though the cheapest plan starts at £55.99 per month. In this case, the plan on offer provides 20GB of data on EE’s popular network, alongside unlimited minutes and texts and even 500MB of data for roaming. Considering the launch later this month of the Huawei P10, as well as the early April launch of the Black P10 Plus, Huawei has set both models up for a significant head start against Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus which are rumored to launch in the U.S. on April 28th.
With the announcement of Samsung’s flagships taking place before either device officially goes on sale, though, Huawei is at risk of losing some potential customers due to the popularity of Samsung’s flagships. Huawei will also eventually face extra competition from LG’s new flagship once this is released over in the UK. Nonetheless, with there still some time before both rival company’s flagships are available worldwide, Huawei has time to push its marketing campaign for its pair of devices. With the first month after release being an especially important time for the company, as well as the weeks leading up to launch, it’ll remain to be seen how effective the company’s efforts to push its pair of devices will be.
