This week, Baselworld has been taking place in Switzerland, and there have been hundreds of new smartwatches announced this past week during that trade show – including about 300 from Fossil. Now the latest one is the Hugo Boss Touch, and it happens to be their first smartwatch, and it’ll be running Android Wear 2.0 when it launches. Speaking of launching, it’s said to be going on sale in August, and will set you back about $395, that’s fairly expensive compared to a lot of the other smartwatches announced lately, but still far behind TAG Heuer’s offerings.
There’s not a lot of details on the Hugo Boss Touch smartwatch just yet, largely because the company did not put out a press release. But we can tell from the image above that the device actually looks more like a traditional watch, than most of the others announced this week. It does look a bit generic though, but that could just be the pictures that they are using. The Hugo Boss Touch does have NFC included, so you’ll be able to use Android Pay to pay for things with your wrist. There’s no heart rate monitor here on this smartwatch, which could actually be a good thing, considering heart rate monitors on smartwatches aren’t that accurate.
The Hugo Boss Touch is made by Movado, who also released a few other smartwatches today. This is similar to what Fossil Group does, where they make smartwatches for a slew of companies, including Michael Kors, Diesel and many more (hence why they announced 300 smartwatches this week). But this smartwatch looks pretty promising, and may actually turn out to be one of the better traditional looking watches that are on the market right in the near future, which is a good thing. Especially for those that don’t like the general look of smartwatches and wanted something a bit more traditional. Seeing as most smartwatches just look like a computer on your wrist and that’s not what a lot of people desire. The Hugo Boss Touch should be available in August, although the company has not yet said which countries will get the watch and when.
