Michael Kors Intros Sofie & Grayson Android Wear 2.0 Watches

Luxury watch manufacturer Michael Kors announced the Sofie and the Grayson, two new additions to its smartwatch family. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 system-on-chip (SoC), both devices are running Android Wear 2.0 out of the box and will be compatible with a variety of straps. The Grayson is Michael Kors’ newest smartwatch designed for men, featuring a completely metal case and a generally sleek design. The Sofie is a Michael Kors-made wearable for women, boasting a relatively thin case compared to its predecessors and an eye-catching bezel. The New York City-based company is planning to release both the Sofie and the Grayson this fall, but their exact launch date(s) will be revealed later this year.

Michael Kors announced its two new smartwatches at the latest iteration of Baselworld, an annual watch and jewelry show in Basel, Switzerland. In addition to its new pair of wearables, the company also revealed its plans to update the Michael Kors Access app featured on its four existing Android Wear smartwatches. The new version of the app will include a My Social feature that will allow the users to customize their watch faces using images they’ve pulled from their Instagram accounts. Following what’s said to be a simple authentication procedure, users will be able to choose any photo on their Instagram feed and instantly display it on their watch face. The latest Michael Kors Access update will be hitting all of the company’s existing devices in the following weeks.

Finally, the New York City-based watch manufacturer also announced it’s expanding its Gage hybrid lineup and has debuted two new hybrid smartwatch styles for men. Images of the Sofie, Grayson, and one new Gage style can be seen in the gallery below. All of the new additions to the firm’s family of connected watches will be hitting the market this fall and although their exact pricing details are yet to be announced, they likely won’t differ too much from the company’s existing portfolio. For reference, Michael Kors Access hybrid smartwatches start at $250, while their touchscreen counterparts start at $350. Besides growing and improving its product lineup, the U.S. company is also looking to expand to other markets over the course of 2017 as it announced plans to launch its devices in China, Brazil, and other territories by the end of the year.
