A rather interesting leak just popped up in China, and it’s allegedly showing images of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6 handset. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is the company’s upcoming flagship, as many of you know, and if rumors are to be believed, it will be announced next month, April 11, April 16 and April 18 have all been mentioned as possible launch dates for the device in the last couple of weeks. Now, despite the fact that the source claims this is the XiaomI Mi 6, it probably is not, read on.
This smartphone, as you can see, sports almost no bezel, and it looks really good because of it, but the Xiaomi Mi 6 will almost certainly ship with more bezel than this phone. This leak is either fake, or it is showcasing a possible design of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 which is expected to launch later this year. As you probably already know, the original Xiaomi Mi MIX was announced at the end of last year, and it came with a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. Xiaomi managed to impress a lot of people when they introduced that phone, not only because of its design, but because of the fact they utilized some really interesting, new technology in the Mi MIX’s case. That being said, this phone sports even less bezel, it seems, and the company’s CEO confirmed that they are aiming to release the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 with 93% screen-to-body ratio, so this might as well be one of the designs that Xiaomi is considering, if the leak is legit, of course.
Now, as you can see, the phone sports a flat display, and a dual camera setup on the back, which is aligned vertically. The source also mentions that this device will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, and that it will be equipped with the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC. Now, we still don’t know how much might the phone cost, but if this the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, it will be quite pricey, just like its predecessor. The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be considerably more affordable, and that is yet another reason why this is almost certainly not the Mi 6, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next month, presuming Xiaomi will, finally, introduce their new flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 6.
