LG G6 Goes Up For Pre-Order in Canada, Starting at $199 on Contract

The highly anticipated LG G6 is nearing market release and today the product becomes available for pre-order in Canada through a variety of carriers and retail channels. The LG G6 has an official launch date set for April 7th, which should give prospective customers in Canada plenty of time to decide whether or not they should pre-order and secure the device before the first day of market availability. However, at the time of writing only one carrier lists the LG G6 along with a price tag, namely Videotron who offers the flagship for $199.95 down along with a 2-year agreement.

The list of Canadian carriers and retailers set to accept pre-orders for the LG G6 today is fairly generous and includes names like Bell, Telus, and Rogers, as well as Eastlink, Freedom Mobile, Koodo Mobile, SaskTel, Fido, and Virgin Mobile. It’s also worth noting that according to MobileSyrup, Canadian carriers will bundle the LG G6 with a free LG PH3 Bluetooth speaker, which is normally accompanied by a retail price of $89.95. The LG PH3 was introduced last year along with a handful of other 360-degree Bluetooth speakers, and its exterior design complete with multicolored lighting aims to resemble a scented candle. As for the LG G6, pre-order prices are currently missing at all carriers save for Videotron who offers the device for $199.95 down along a 2-year contract and a monthly plan starting at $79.95. Needless to say, other Canadian carriers are expected to offer the LG G6 in a similar price-range.

Compared to the company’s previous flagship in the G series, the LG G6 is quite a departure in that it ditches modularity in favor of a unibody, metal-clad design. It sports a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2880 x 1440, leading to a pixel density of around 564 pixels per inch. The 5.7-inch panel is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and under the hood beats the heart of a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 System-on-Chip paired with an Adreno 530 graphics chip and 4 GB of RAM. The back of the device accommodates two 13-megapixel cameras with optical image stabilization (OIS), whereas the front panel holds a 5-megapixel unit. All the components rely on a non-removable Li-Ion 3,000 mAh battery and the device runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, complete with LG’s UX 6.0 proprietary user interface.
