It seems like Lenovo plans to stick with the Motorola brand after all. As most of you probably already know, Motorola is owned by Lenovo, and Lenovo actually announced last year that they plan to release Motorola’s ‘Moto’ smartphones under the Lenovo brand moving forward. Such devices are supposed to be released under the ‘Moto by Lenovo’ brand, but it seems like that won’t be happening any longer, as the company opted to keep Motorola as a brand around for a bit longer, read on.
This information comes straight from Aymar de Lencquesaing, Motorola’s Chairman and President. Motorola’s General Manager for UK, Ireland and European Operators mentioned that the company has no plans to release the next-gen Moto 360 smartwatch, or any other smartwatch for that matter. He said that Motorola decided to discontinue plans for a smartwatch as they were simply not selling enough Moto 360 units to justify costs, though he did mention that Motorola will actively invest into smartwatch research, and who knows, maybe even release a new smartwatch down the line. All in all, he did not exclude the fact that a new smartwatch might come, but it won’t come anytime soon, so if you were planning to purchase the 2nd-gen Moto 360, now might be a good time to do it. That is more or less
