The JDTab is a rather interesting tablet. Now, this Android-powered tablet was announced back in December last year, and 5 companies actually partnered up in order to release it, Meizu, JingDong Mall (JD.com), Foxconn, Harman and LeEco. This tablet, more or less, carries JD.com’s name, and comes with Meizu’s Flyme OS on top of Android, which is quite interesting. In addition to that, you also get Harman Kardon speakers here. In any case, we’ve shared the announcement of this tablet back in December, but never really got the chance to use it. Luckily for us, this tablet was presented at Harman’s booth at MWC 2017, so we managed to get some hands-on time with it.
The JDTab is available for purchase all over the world (unofficially) through various Chinese resellers, even though it is officially available only in China through JD.com. The JDTab sports a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 display, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. MediaTek’s MT8173 quad-core SoC fuels this tablet, and a 6,200mAh battery is included on the inside, and it is not removable. An 8-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of the JDTab, while a 5-megapixel shooter lies on the front side of this tablet. We do not know which variant of Android is installed here, but on top of it comes Meizu’s Flyme OS, as already mentioned. Flyme OS is a bit different than regular Android most of you are used to, but it’s quite a snappy OS, and also quite interesting. The tablet is made out of metal, and interestingly enough, its volume up and volume down keys are placed on the right, not left side. There are three capacitive buttons below this device’s display, back, home and overview (multitasking), respectively, and a 3.5mm headphone jack lies on the top of this tablet.
Now, the JDTab is currently available from a number of Chinese resellers, and it costs around $270, for those of you who would like to purchase it. The JDTab comes in Silver and Gold color variants, and if you’d like to take a closer look at this tablet, we’ve included a number of images in the gallery down below, straight from Harman’s booth at MWC 2017.
