The new Power Rangers Movie tie-in game is available to download on Google Play today, just in time to get you hyped about the upcoming film, that is, if you’re a fan of the franchise and watched it as a kid. If not, it can still be a fun little romp if you’re into action-based games that play out like a fighting title. That being said, this is not your true fighting game like you’ll find with the numerous King of Fighter games as it’s more akin to the likes of Injustice or Injustice 2 where your movements are just a series of your attacks, but without the ability to jump and move freely.
Since this is a movie tie-in with the new Power Ranger film, you’ll have access to play as all of the new characters with the new style of suits, but you can also play as just about every other Power Ranger that’s been put out over the years as you’ll be able to acquire and unlock more than 40 characters, including both the rangers and villains from the franchise. Combat is PvP-based and it’s in real-time, meaning that if you play against others online you’ll both be battling it out for supremacy and you’ll need to plan out your moves if you want to win.
Each ranger has their own moves and abilities and they can be comboed together to create more powerful and devastating attacks, though each move also costs energy and you will only have so much of it, so you’ll need to wait until it replenishes before you can execute another attack. Visuals are full-on 3D and pretty high-quality, though not really console quality as described, at least not current consoles. As you collect more characters you’ll have the chance to add them to your team roster, and during battle you can press a special button that lets you tag one of your team members in to complete an attack kind of like you would in games like Marvel VS. Capcom. Overall, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars seems like a decent game and it appears to be highly rated by those playing it so far.
