Nokia's New Lineup Ships In May & June In The UK

UK retailer Clove Technology has revealed when Nokia’s new lineup will start shipping in the UK. Back at MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Nokia announced the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and a new version of the classic Nokia 3310, all of which were slated as being released in Q2 2017. Today, UK retailer Clove has confirmed this by revealing the shipping dates of all four devices, though the late release dates may disappoint many considering the early announcement.

Starting with the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the new Nokia 3310, all three are expected to ship in May, in the case of the Nokia 6, though, this is set to ship slightly later than the other three, with the release set for June. Now, currently a specific date has not been set for any of the devices, considering the May and June shipment dates, though, it’s likely Nokia will favor closer release dates. In other words, it’s likely that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and new Nokia 3310 will ship towards the end of May, while the higher-end Nokia 6 should ship towards the beginning of June. Regarding pricing, currently Clove does not have a specific price listed. HMD Global has previously confirmed though that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 would be available in Europe for €139, €189 and €229, respectively, while the new Nokia 3310 will cost €49. Taking into consideration that HMD Global is likely concentrating on the European market, it may be some time before the company confirms pricing for other markets.

HMD Global is undoubtedly trying to capitalize as best as it can on the Nokia name and heritage, though there is the risk that consumers could lose interest in the devices by the time the release date arrives. Considering the company announced the wider release of the devices back in February, unless the company can successfully maintain hype and interest regarding the brand and its devices, there is the chance that sales figures may not be as high as hoped. The main advantage, though, is the fact that the Nokia name is still very popular in most European markets and many consumers associate the name with well-built devices. Until the devices actually go on sale, it’ll remain to be seen how effective the company’s efforts will be at maintaining interest in the brand.
