The OnePlus 3/3T Are Getting Their Update To Android 7.1.1

The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are getting their update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat which will push users with these devices to OxygenOS 4.1. The update looks to have started today which means that while plenty of people will end up seeing the update come through by the end of the day, there are sure to be a lot of users who won’t see it right away as well, and may end up not receiving it til later this week. On that note, this will be an incremental update, and OnePlus states that a “small percentage” of users will be getting it today while it will begin hitting a larger amount of users in the next few days.

As for what the update includes, the March Security patch is one of the bigger details to pay attention to especially if you’re keen on having the latest protection. This has already hit Nexus and Pixel devices, which showcases that OnePlus is keeping up with Google in regards to the security patches. Alongside the latest security update OxygenOS 4.1 also includes only a handful of other changes and improvements as Google Assistant actually started heading out to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in earlier update that began around March 7th.

In today’s update users will get access to expanded screenshots, and for the photographers who love to take pictures with their smartphones, OnePlus has improved the blur reduction when taking pictures of moving objects. This should be particularly useful if you take a lot of photos during sporting events, of animals or other things that may move end up moving. OnePlus has also improved the video stability for when you’re recording, and there have also been improvements made to both the Bluetooth and the Wi-Fi connectivity so users who may have been experiencing any issues with either prior to this update should notice that those connections actually stay connected. There were some “general bug fixes” included in this new software too, but OnePlus doesn’t elaborate on the details for what bugs the software fixed. While many users will find this software is new, there are those that have already likely had a chance to test this software in its beta status, as the beta software was made available on march 2nd for both the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T.
