Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-orders will open on April 10 according to a new report out of The Investor, which in turn credits “industry sources” with the information. Although this is still an unconfirmed date, it does fit in somewhat neatly with the other release information that has come through of late. For instance, Samsung has now confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will be unveiled at a dedicated launch event on March 29. While rumors seem to collectively point to a full release date set around April 21.
If the latter, the release date, is correct, then April 10 as the date in which Samsung will begin accepting pre-orders slots in nicely between the announcement and release dates. Which likely does mean that if not spot on, April 10 will still be around the time at which interested parties will be able to pre-order the latest Galaxy S smartphone. While the unveiling, pre-order and release dates suggested seem to be in line with one-another, there is still very little word on what the likely pricing of the Galaxy S8 will be.
In terms of what should be expected to be announced on March 29 though, rumors have been coming in aplenty over the past few weeks and now it seems as though very little has been left to the imagination. For instance, it does seem clear that there will be two models unveiled, the standard Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus, with the most notable differences between the two being the display size and the battery capacity. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with a 5.2-inch display and a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will make use of a 6.2-inch display and a 3,500 mAh battery. Both smartphones are expected to come with a Quad HD+ resolution, both are expected to come equipped with 4GB RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. As well as an iris scanner, fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, Samsung Pay compatibility and an IP68 certification against water and dust. It is also expected that the US models will come powered by the latest Qualcomm SoC, the Snapdragon 835, while international models will come powered by an Exynos equivalent, and both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will make use of the company’s own AI solution, Bixby.
