Rumor: Meizu's Snapdragon-Powered Flagship Coming In Q3

According to a new rumor which just arrived from China, Meizu is planning to release their Snapdragon-powered flagship with a curved display in the third quarter of this year. As some of you might know, Qualcomm sued Meizu in the past, and the two companies finally came to terms and signed a licensing agreement back in December last year. Soon after that, rumors started surfacing and saying that Meizu might release a Snapdragon-powered flagship in 2017, well, it seems like initial rumors were accurate, at least if this rumor is to be believed.

Meizu’s high-end smartphone with a curved display probably won’t be the company’s only high-end handset this year, as Meizu is expected to announce the Meizu PRO 7 next month. The third quarter is still some time away, and Meizu does need to keep their customers happy until then, which is why we will probably see their flagship announced in April, as a number of rumors suggested, not to mention that the Meizu PRO 6 was announced in April last year. The Meizu PRO 7 might also sport a curved display, but according to reports, it will be fueled by the Helio X30 64-bit deca-core processor, not the Snapdragon 835, which is a chip we’re expecting to see in Meizu’s high-end smartphone with a curved display which is expected to land later this year.

We’ve already seen quite a few leaks when it comes to Meizu’s flagship with a curved display, but each of those leaks offered a different design of the device, so we still don’t know what exactly to expect. The Meizu PRO 6 Plus is Meizu’s latest flagship smartphone, and it’s quite powerful, though the company is expected to change their design language a bit this year, as their devices started to look way too similar one to the other, and even the company’s CEO noticed that last year. Now, we still don’t know what that implies, though it seems unlikely Meizu will ditch their physical home key, as the company’s Flyme UI revolves around that button, it serves as a physical home key, capacitive back key and a fingerprint scanner. In any case, fresh leaks are expected to arrive soon, so stay tuned for that.
