The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will become available to pre-order in select European countries on March 29, according to a new report out of Android World. The information seems to be specific to the Netherlands, with the report crediting “specific sources for the Netherlands” for the confirmation. Although, the report also does highlight that Belgium will likely see its pre-orders going live on the same day. Therefore, there is the possibility that other European countries will also gain their pre-orders on the same day as well. The same report is also looking to confirm the price for the two upcoming Galaxy S8 devices (at least in the Netherlands) with the report detailing that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will cost €799 and the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus €899. In US terms, those prices equate to $861 and $969, respectively.
If correct, what makes this date so noteworthy is that it is the date that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to be formerly introduced. Therefore, the assumption being made here is that almost immediately after announcing the smartphones, Samsung is going to make the option to pre-order the devices available. Unfortunately, the report does not provide any details on when the pre-order period will end, or when devices will begin to ship. However, the information does note that Samsung is not planning to offer any freebies with this latest round of Galaxy smartphones. Which is in contrast to the previous few Samsung flagship devices that have come through – as they have typically came with a number of deals on offer to entice buyers. A free Samsung Gear VR headset being one of the most frequently encountered.
Of course, it is worth keeping in mind that none of this has been confirmed by Samsung yet and therefore, still does remain as a rumor. Not to mention that the details are not only specific to Europe, but to select parts of Europe. So there is every chance that the US release and pre-order schedule could be vastly different. As well as whether Samsung plans to offer any freebies along with the purchase of the Galaxy S8 or the Galaxy S8 Plus.
