The Samsung Galaxy S8 just got certified in China by the CCC authority, which stands for the China Compulsory Certification. This is China’s product quality testing agency, and is equivalent to the product testing lab UL in the US, which makes sure that products which are sold in the country are safe to use, more or less. Well, the Galaxy S8 paid a visit to the CCC authority, and got certified under the SM-G9500 model number, which means you can expect the Galaxy S8 Plus to carry the SM-G9550 model number in China. As you can see, these models differentiate a bit from model numbers in most other regions, as the two phones carry the SM-G950 and SM-G955 model numbers elsewhere.
You can see the SM-G9500 listing in an image down below, which essentially means that the Galaxy S8 is on its way to China as well. Most of you probably already know that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus already got certified by the FCC in the US, that occurred last week, actually. The two phones will land on March 29, well Samsung confirmed that they will host an Unpacked event on March 29, and that the Galaxy S8 is coming, though pretty much everyone expects the Galaxy S8 Plus to launch alongside its smaller sibling. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have been leaking for a long time now, and quite a few leaks actually came from China, so this certification is not all that surprising, to be quite honest. The Galaxy S8 still needs to go through TENAA, which is China’s equivalent to the FCC, and we can expect that to happen in the near future as well, as the phone already passed both the CCC in China and the FCC in the US.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are both expected to ship with curved QHD AMOLED panels, though the Galaxy S8 will sport a smaller, 5.8-inch display, while the Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to ship with a 6.2-inch panel. Android Nougat will come pre-installed on these two phones, and they will ship with extremely thin bezels. You can expect to see on-screen buttons on these two phones, as Samsung is (finally) ditching the physical home key. Exynos 8895 and Snapdragon 835 will fuel these two smartphones, you won’t exactly be able to choose which variant you purchase, it will all depend on where you live. Android Nougat will come pre-installed on both phones, and the two devices will be made out of metal and glass. Do stay tuned, more info will likely surface in the coming weeks before the two phones get announced.
