Two new dummy models of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have appeared online and they show off the difference in size between the two phones. It’s been known for some time now that Samsung would be introducing a number of big design changes with this year’s Galaxy S8 line, specifically the removal of its signature home button, the reduction in bezels and a pretty big increase in screen size. Judging by the pictures of the dummy phones and in pairing with previous leaks this appears to be just the case.
Looking at the phones, the curved edge can be clearly appreciated on both models and with a bit more inspection, the lower bezels on both models can be made out as well. Due to the angle and lighting, not much else can be made out on the front panel, though on the left side of the device two buttons can be made out. The first looks to be the volume rocker while the second one, which is situated slightly lower down the frame, appears to be the rumored Bixby-button that is expected to activate Samsung’s new virtual assistant. Moving on to the overall size of the devices, the smaller Galaxy S8 model is expected to be a similar size to last year’s Galaxy S7 Edge, at least in terms of height. Regarding the Galaxy S8 Plus model, as can be seen in the picture, the device is set to be quite a bit taller than the smaller model. For comparison, the device is expected to be just a tad taller that Google’s Pixel XL, though significantly slimmer.
With only 12 days left until the official announcement, it won’t be too long before the company unveils what will be its 2017 flagship lineup. Until the official date though, more leaked images, specs, and details surrounding the devices are bound to start appearing. Currently, it appears the lineup will be available in four different colors – Coral Blue, Black, Silver, and Orchid Gray – and will go on sale at the end of April. Once the lineup is officially announced it’ll remain to be seen how the devices are received by consumers, but with Samsung appearing to put everything it can into the devices, they’re are on track to being even more popular than last year’s flagships.
