In terms of pricing, Samsung has yet to confirm details on how much an unlocked version of either model will cost. However, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be available in three colors at launch. These include a Midnight Black, an Orchid Gray and an Arctic Silver color. Samsung has also confirmed that pre-orders are set to become immediately available, as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be available to pre-order from March 30, tomorrow. Likewise, the pre-order phase will run through until April 21 when both devices will become available to generally buy.
Samsung has also now confirmed that both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be available from a number of US carriers including, AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Sprint, Straight Talk Wireless, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon Wireless. While both models will also be available from a number of retailers, including Best Buy, Target and Walmart. It has been rumored that the Galaxy S8 will not be offered along with any freebies, however, that seems to be not the case as Samsung has now confirmed that anyone who purchases the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus will receive a free Gear VR headset.
In terms of which device you should go for, there are very few differences between the two models with the main ones worth noting being the display size and the battery capacity. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes loaded with a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display and a 3,000 mAh battery. While the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus comes loaded with a 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display and a 3,500 mAh battery. The rest of the specs are largely common to both, with both handsets coming loaded with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. As well as a 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera, microSD card support, an IP68 certification, and Android 7.0 (Nougat) out of the box. This is of course, in addition to support for Samsung Pay, KNOX and Bixby.
