Samsung has filed for a new trademark in the US which suggests that the company opted to use the ‘Infinity Display’ moniker when it comes to the Galaxy S8’s display. So, Samsung filed a trademark application with the USPTO for the ‘Infinity Display’, it seems like rumors were spot on when it comes to that. Now, this moniker will be attached to the curved Super AMOLED display which will ship on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.
The trademark application filing does not really reveal all that much info, aside for the fact that this display will be used on ‘mobile telephones’. Samsung obviously did not want to reveal too much info, though it’s pretty obvious what are we looking at here. The company’s upcoming flagship surfaced a number of times lately, and pretty much every leak that arrived in the last couple of weeks has been sharing the same design of the Galaxy S8, which pretty much confirms what will the phone look like. The Galaxy S8 will be a really sleek-looking smartphone, which will ship with very little bezel. Its top and bottom bezels will be really thin, and there won’t be any bezel on the sides, except for the metallic frame. Speaking of which, the phone’s frame, which is made out of metal, will be placed in between two sheets of glass. On the right side of the Galaxy S8, you can expect to see a power / lock key, while there volume up and volume down keys will be located on the left. Interestingly enough, the phone is also rumored to sport a dedicated physical Bixby AI button on its left side, which will let you call upon Samsung’s new personal assistant.
The Galaxy S8 is rumored to sport a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will ship with a somewhat larger 6.2-inch QHD Super AMOLED panel. The two devices will sport 4GB of RAM, and will be fueled by either the Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 SoC, depending on where you purchase your unit, as the company will probably include the Snapdragon 835 in US units, while most other devices will ship with Samsung’s very own Exynos 8895 processor. The two devices will be announced on March 29th, Samsung had already announced their upcoming ‘Unpacked’ event.
