Shadowgun Legends Featured In New Gameplay Video

Madfinger Games recently made available a video showcasing nearly eight minutes of pre-alpha gameplay footage of its next title in the Shadowgun series: Shadowgun Legends. Unlike the previous third-person shooter games in the series, Shadowgun Legends comes in a first-person perspective and boasts massive multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) elements. The game is now expected to launch in Q2 2017.

Although Shadowgun Legends is considered a direct sequel to the original Shadowgun game launched in 2011, the upcoming title will offer a different experience as it will put players in a persistent world where they will be able to team up with friends and fight alien threats for better skills and gear. The story of the game takes place 30 years after the original Shadowgun game, specifically in the year 2380. Planet Earth has been stripped of its natural resources and as a result, corporations have funded human colonization across the galaxy, with humanity’s efforts in this regard leading to many other planets being conquered and colonized across the Milky Way. But while humanity is seemingly enjoying its “consumerism-driven way of life” across the galaxy, a new thread emerges from the human borderworld colonies and needless to say, it comes down to Shadowguns (warriors who have achieved legendary status) to deal with the threat and save the human species and civilization. Players will pick up the role of a Shadowgun warrior and their goal will be to cash in on as many bounties as possible, all the while upgrading their gear and advancing the game forward. Players will have more than 50 unique skills at their disposal to build their Shadowgun warriors, as well as hundreds of items including weapons and armors. Groups of players will also be able to create guilds and challenge opponents in a variety of PvP (Player versus Player) modes.

Although Shadowgun Legends was originally planned for release in the first quarter of 2017 (as the official faq page still insists at the time of writing), the YouTube gameplay video shared recently by the Czech developer comes with a new launch timeframe set for Q2, 2017. In other words, the game’s release appears to have been delayed but it should all be for the better, as bugs on launch day can make the difference between a successful game and a flop. Shadowgun Legends will be coming to iOS, Android, and the NVIDIA SHIELD, and will adopt a Free to Play business model.
