Support comes to new devices with LineageOS 14.1 to expand the list of phones and tablets which can make use of this version of the software. While LineageOS 14.1 is not entirely new as it’s already been available for devices like the OnePlus 3T, ZTE Axon 7, HTC 10, HTC One M7 and more, there are a handful of devices which have been supported by the OS firmware in general but haven’t yet been supported by the 14.1 version. This included devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet as well as the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge that are powered by the Exynos processor. After today though those are getting the bump up to the latest version of LineageOS and can flash the firmware if users are looking to do so.
Of course those aren’t the only new devices which can now install LineageOS 14.1. The firmware also now supports the Wi-Fi only model of the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 as well as the LTE model of the same device. Even the i9305 model of the Galaxy S III now supports the software, so users who are still using this much older phone can breathe new life into it. It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet is gaining support across multiple models and this includes the GSM model which comes with the model number n5100, the LTE model which comes with the model number n5120, and the Wi-Fi only mode which comes with the model number n5110.
Those not familiar with LineageOS would be forgiven for not knowing its origins, as by all accounts it seems fairly new. On the contrary though, LineageOS is more or less the continuation of CyanogenMod as it’s merely a name change, and was thrust into the limelight earlier this year when the new logo was finally announced. While so far everything that has been updated with support for 14.1 have been Samsung devices, not all the new devices that now have support for this firmware are Samsung-based. The AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Korean models of the LG G3 are all now supporting 14.1, and the LeEco Le Pro3 and LeMax2 can now install LineageOS 13.0.
