TAG Heuer seems to be teasing their new Android Wear smartwatch. On their official Twitter account page they have posted an image of a mostly covered up watch that says “coming soon” at the very bottom. While that isn’t terribly revealing in terms of specifics, the message in the actual tweet lists the date March 14th, along with the words “stay tuned” which is suggesting that TAG Heuer will have something to share on that day. The most likely scenario in this case is that March 14th is the day that they will officially announce the new watch and unveil it to the public.
Last month, it was rumored that TAG Heuer would be launching their new smartwatch in March and the rumor did explicitly state that it would be on March 14th, so it would seem that TAG Heuer is more or less confirming that date. March 14th is coming up rather quickly as it’s just next Tuesday, and that still leaves plenty of time for them to launch their watch in March after an announcement that day, that is, if they don’t launch it the very same day and if they are in fact announcing the watch at all at that time. Having said that, teasers like this do tend to allude to the announcement of a product and there’s nothing to indicate that they have anything else in the works in regards to their original TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch.
The new TAG Heuer smartwatch is likely to be similar to the original model, though it will certainly have some upgrades that come along with it. Most notably it will come running on Android Wear 2.0 software which is already a huge boost compared to the regular Connected, as it will have Play Store access and Google Assistant right out of the box as features. It’s also rumored that it will offer consumers the option to swap out the body of the watch so they can switch between one that runs on Android Wear 2.0 and one that is a standard watch body, which would add a little more value to it, and it makes sense given the rumored name which is TAG Heuer Connected Modular. Whatever the watch carries as features it appears TAG Heuer is preparing to officially unveil all of the details next week.
