TENAA Certification Confirms Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus Specs

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to land later today, and TENAA (China’s equivalent of the FCC) has just confirmed their specifications. The two devices (SM-G9500 and SM-G9550) got certified in China, and even though TENAA did not share their images, which is usually the case, we do get plenty of spec info thanks to these two listings, so, if you’re interested, read on.

According to TENAA, the Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.8-inch 2960 x 1440 AMOLED display, just as rumors were reporting, though it is probable this will be a Super AMOLED display, and it will be curved on the sides, as you probably already know. The Galaxy S8 will pack in 4GB / 6GB of RAM, says TENAA, do keep in mind that the 6GB RAM variant might become available in China only, though. These two models will ship with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage, respectively, and you will be able to expand that storage via a microSD card (up to 256GB). This seems to be an Exynos 8895 variant of the Galaxy S8, and it packs in a 3,000mAh battery on the inside, and that battery almost certainly will not be removable. Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on the Galaxy S8, says TENAA, and the phone will come in a black color variant. More color options will probably be available in China, though TENAA only lists one for some reason. The Galaxy S8 will measure 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm, while it will weigh 152 grams.

Now, the Galaxy S8 Plus, on the other hand, will ship with a 6.2-inch 2960 x 1440 AMOLED display, 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB / 128GB of expandable internal storage. This also seems to be an Exynos variant of the device, and a 3,500mAh battery is included on the inside. The Galaxy S8 Plus will, just like the Galaxy S8, come with Android 7.0 Nougat, and on top of it, you’ll get Samsung’s custom UI, of course. TENAA lists black, gold and blue variants of this smartphone, though we don’t exactly get any images here either. The Galaxy S8 Plus will measure 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm, and it will weigh 173 grams. Both of these devices will be made out of metal and glass, and they will look identical in terms of the design, the Galaxy S8 Plus will be larger, though, of course. The two phones will be announced later today in New York, at 11AM EST (8AM PST, 4PM CET), and in case you’re interested, you can watch Samsung’s press conference live stream here.
